I know, I never got back on that one night, sorry!  I am about to head to bed now too but I can answer you before I go.

I am going to Pitchfork and Lollapalooza again this year.

Yeah, I spend plenty of money as it is on music related things.  Actually that’s what most of my money goes to other than bills.  I have 5 concerts and 3 festivals I am going to and that’s only as of right now…I am sure I will add on at least a couple more in the next few months.  I wouldn’t have it any other way though.

Oh I didn’t think you were, besides you can’t - I’ve tried.  I even tried as recently as last year when I knew they would be at Lollapalooza.  Alas, I couldn’t get into it and skipped them at Lolla. 

I see what you mean by having something in common but not even their love for MGMT is enough to make me like their music.  Like I said before,  I am sure they are wonderful talented people but as a group it does nothing for me.  It would be nice if I liked them since so many awesome people on tumblr do but after all these years they have failed to show me their appeal.   

The condom video wasn’t hard to track down though since I had posted it to my blog.

I was asked about that before and I posted.  Here is what I said:

Oh boy.  First, I must stress that even though I don’t like them, I have nothing against anyone that does.  Music is all about preferences.  I am sure they are talented musicians, but all together it just doesn’t do it for me.   

With that being said, I just don’t like the way it sounds.  It’s too repetitive especially concerning the drums and guitar.  I have given them chance after chance to try and impress me but with each album I’m just let down more and more.  The repetitiveness annoys me to no end.  In most songs everyone is playing the similar 3 chords and I find nothing about that musically soothing to my ears.  Also, the way Julian changes the octave to his voice without rhyme or reason really bothers me as well.  Most of the time it just sounds like he’s talking in a low voice and not even singing.  The music is watered down and they are way over hyped for how much they actually impress music critics and people of the like.  For me, the music is bland and not creative in the least.    

Also, not that this has anything to do with the music, but I don’t find any member of the band even remotely attractive. 

So there you have it.

They are implying that MGMT releasing Flash Delirium as it’s first single off of Congratulations was “deceptive”.  This could have many meanings but I know the writer was intending a negative connotation behind it all.  Furthermore, they are comparing The Strokes lead single Undercover of Darkness to that of Flash Delirium.  This pisses me off because A) Naturally, I hate when bands are compared to MGMT, especially ones I dislike and B) Releasing Flash Delirium wasn’t deceptive at all.

TOTAL FAIL.
