Hi Lisa!  I was just wondering if you can elaborate on why Andrew and Syd Barrett are similar?  I’m not sure if you mean physically, intellectually, musically etc.  Syd’s story is quite sad, despite his amazing talents.  So I wonder where people draw these parallels.

Hey Jennifer :)  Well the first initial reason is that yes, they have a few physical characteristics that are similar.  I don’t think that it’s necessarily that they look alike but there is a resemblance if that makes sense.  It’s almost in the way that they carry themselves as people.  Also, although they may have different strengths as musicians I think the overall “feel” they bring to the music is fairly similar.

I’m having a really hard time coming up with the words for what I am trying to say. I hope this clarified a little though.

You were actually the first MGMT blog I ever followed on tumblr and you were the person that really got me full-on obsessed with them with all the pictures and videos you posted. When I started listening to MGMT in late 2008/early 2009, I fell in love with them. But the love I had for them became even stronger, I guess, when I started following you. Oh Ariel this is such a sweet message, thank you so much.  Are you trying to win the greatest ask I have ever gotten award ;) ?  It makes me so happy to know that I was able to fuel your passion for MGMT.  I started the blog as kind of my journal of all MGMT things so to hear that you enjoy it all means a lot to me since it’s all so personal to me.

Awe, teaching you to be a dedicated fan - I am not sure how I did that but it really makes me proud to hear that. Being a fan of a band like MGMT - who gives so much to us - the least we can do is support and respect them sort of as a way of giving back to them.  

Their fan base is such a dedicated group of people.  I think the “casual fans” were weeded out after Congratulations came out.  Now we are left with fans who really love and appreciate the direction they are taking the band.  Many of those people are here on tumblr and it’s amazing how we all come together to show our appreciation for all that they do.  

Thank you again Ariel.  Being called an amazing fan by another amazing fan is something to smile about :)  I think you do a great job in respecting them and showing what they mean to you.  They would be proud to have you as a fan.

For real. It hurts sometimes.

I really have been trying to keep up with the blogging but I have been go go go lately.  Blogging from the phone left and right.  

Panda Bear and Sonic Boom were… well I have no words right now.  Maybe I will find some words tomorrow when I am not delirious from lack of sleep.
